What Start Bad A Mornin' by Carol Mitchell

The past is always with us whether we remember it or not. Amaya is Jamaican with no knowledge of her ancestors. She has only one family photo of herself with her grandmother. While her future husband's family have many family photographs and ancestor stories. It is very interesting to read about the Chinese connection with his family. The Chinese origins make the Jamaican and black experience richer than any wedding cake. In the beginning, we are in Fairfax, Virginia.   From the Caribbean to the United States is not an easy jump for Amaya. Where we begin our lives is always with us. No matter how many miles are put behind us. We are never far from our birthplace.
