The Accident by L.H. Stacey

Kate Duggan is a private detective. She is aware of the fact that there are bundles and bundles of drugs hitting the streets. Already, she is working her first case at this company. Reading about how private investigators know how to hide visibly is riveting.  It's a mystery you won't throw down. The characters face challenging circumstances. Once you learn Ben's challenge you can't help but want to hug him. Then, there is Isabel and her family. Oh my, my my. Life sure can throw curves. Then, there is the accident. L.H. Stacey will tell you more about it in her writing. The telling about exactly what happened during the whole accident is slowly told. It takes so long I almost forgot the plot. I couldn't read forward. Finally, I gave up on this book. If I will try this author again is a question, I can't answer at this time.

 Charlie is leaving Lancashire for New York. It is her first time visiting there. She is so excited. In her shoes, I would feel the same way. The trip on the plane goes well. Everything is great until she figures it out. Harry Taylor is not there to meet her.  It is such a horrible feeling to experience what is happening to her. She spends hours at the airport and find she does not have enough information with her. The story goes on. Although I have never had this experience, I almost feel her pain. It is a wonderful book. We definitely learn about Charlie.When all we want to know is where is Harry. Walking this woman back and forth as she tries to think what to tell her parents, etc. leaves the heart pumping faster and faster. You really feel like crying for her. This is not the way I pictured her New York Christmas. By the way, Lancashire is near London.

Since it is a novel, I can read it with the joy of being uninvolved. I do not know what happens to the body as we make up lies to cover truths. It is all done because we want to protect someone from pain. As we protect them, they look around and see and feel that some thing is not right about their life. The one who is keeping the secrets searches for ways to cover his dishonesty: drinking, sex, running. It is all just balls scattered on the floor. No one can walk through them.
